Kids Fishing Clinic
The Kid’s Fishing Clinic at Hesperia Lake Park is a popular community event designed to introduce young children, typically ages 5 to 14, to the fundamentals of angling. Held as a hands-on, educational day by the water, the clinic features a series of interactive stations where expert volunteers and park staff teach participants essential skills such as fish identification, safety rules, knot tying, and proper casting techniques. Space is generally capped at the first 100 children to ensure close guidance and a safe environment, requiring advanced pre-registration and a small registration fee. The lake is heavily stocked with fish, such as trout or catfish, prior to the event so children can immediately practice what they learned and catch up to a specified daily limit. Beyond the fishing experience, the event fosters a festive family environment by including local food trucks, community vendors, raffles, and complimentary goodie bags provided by event sponsors.
