🚧 Important Safety Message
As we continue making steady progress toward reopening our parks, we kindly ask the public to respect our closure and **not trespass** on the park property.
Trespassing creates serious safety concerns for everyone involved and has already caused significant delays to our repair work in **two separate instances**. When people are on the grounds, our crews must stop working for safety and liability reasons, which pushes back the timeline for all of us.
We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work hard to get the parks ready for safe public enjoyment. Please help us by staying out of closed areas until we are officially reopened.
Thank you for helping us keep everyone safe! 👷
📢 Community Update: Storm Recovery Efforts Underway
In December 2025, a severe winter storm caused significant damage to several Hesperia Recreation and Park District facilities, including Percy Bakker Community Center, Timberlane Park, and Hesperia Lake Park.
These parks and facilities are more than buildings and open space — they are places where our community gathers for youth programs, senior activities, sports, events, and family recreation. Restoring them is one of our top priorities.
The District is currently working to secure recovery funding at the county, state, and federal level. Each of these programs has different requirements and approval processes, and many disaster recovery programs must first prioritize the most urgent regional infrastructure and public safety needs before moving forward with park and facility repairs.
In order to qualify for federal disaster recovery funding, certain work must also be prioritized that focuses on preserving life and reducing potential liability, including improvements and repairs related to stormwater infrastructure and catch basins. Addressing these critical safety components is an important step in protecting the community and ensuring the District meets federal program requirements.
While temporary fixes might allow limited use sooner, the District is committed to doing this the right way — not the quick way.
Our goal is to restore the lake, parks, and community centers to full operation with long-term improvements that protect these facilities from future storm damage. This approach helps protect the public investment in these spaces and reduces the risk of the same damage occurring again.
We understand how important these spaces are to our residents, and we appreciate the community’s patience and support as we work through the recovery process.
